Aircraft Anatomy, Zones and Stations
A beginner reference for locating structures, systems, zones, stations and access panels.

Reference notes
Aircraft maintenance begins with locating the correct structure, zone and access point. The fuselage carries crew and payload, wings produce lift and may contain fuel, and the empennage provides pitch and yaw stability.
The powerplant creates thrust. Flight controls include ailerons for roll, elevator for pitch, rudder for yaw, and high-lift devices such as flaps. Cockpit, avionics, electrical, fuel and hydraulic equipment are identified by their physical location and ATA system reference.
Always confirm the aircraft effectivity, zone or station, drawing revision and access-panel number before beginning maintenance.
